Alan and Helen's Journey with Rachna Satrei

A couple of years ago my wife and I came to Cambodia just to have a look at Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, with a visit to Angkor Wat.

We were struck by three things, the appalling recent history of the country through which the people have suffered, the very poor conditions in which a great part of the population live and the unfailingly friendly and smiling people that we met. You always get a smile, a wave and a hello.

About a month after returning to Australia we both said, ''we have to go back''. So we researched various NGO's on the Internet and posted a request for advice on Facebook and one of the responses came from a volunteer at Rachna Satrei (thank you, Manon). We organised to meet with the founder of Rachna Satrei Phoungmaly Nhean (Maly). We had liked what we had seen on the Rachna Satrei website but our support was sealed in meeting with Maly, we were very impressed by her vision, her passion to support her fellow Cambodians, especially women who are particularly disadvantaged and her warm, compassionate nature.

We, along with our friends and family, are supporting Rachna Satrei which we strongly believe will make a positive difference especially to those women in desperate need of support. We would urge everyone to consider actively supporting this organisation to help them achieve their goals.

Any help you provide will make a difference!!
